Ellen Arthur (fashion)
From a master plan proposed by GMS Systems, equipment has been supplied and installed in stages to provide Ellen Arthur, a clothing manufacturer employing some 500 people, with state of the art handling equipment.
The overhead rail system conveys garments from pressing, through quality control and automatic bagging to a five tier storage facility with a mezzanine level. The overhead rail system allows for rapid preparation of orders and transfer into despatch vehicles with a telescopic boom.
An automatic trolley loader and unloader was designed and installed by GMS to allow the automatic bagging machine to handle single garments.
Kwalu (furniture)
GMS Systems was contracted by Kwalu, USA, to design, manufacture and install an overhead rail system to handle bentwood chairs on their South Carolina production line. As the manufacturing process is multi-stage and labour intensive, an overhead rail system was selected as it reduced production times, reduced damage to the furniture and provided free accessibility when compared to floor based conveying systems. GMS Systems was able to offer a quality solution at a competitive price.
Sherco (sports wear)
The Sherco group, incorporating Pastel, Puma, Brantex and Adidas, is a large manufacturer of sports wear serving both local and export markets. A recent restructuring placed increased demands on their distribution operation, and GMS Systems was contracted to manufacture and install a rail system suspended from the roof on a mezzanine level. The system included powered conveyors to transfer trolleys between levels and collapsible hangtainers which allow cartons to be conveyed on the overhead monorails.
Triumph (swimwear)
A powered Conveyors International conveyor is used to transfer finished garments to a storage facility. The power and free system allows trolleys to be powered over a section, and pushed manually where loading and sorting takes place.
Klein Karoo Co-op (ostrich leather)
Klein Karoo Co-op, operating in Oudtshoorn, South Africa is the world's largest ostrich leather manufacturer and tannery.
For this project, GMS Systems installed a storage system with a capacity for 75 000 treated skins and a monorail system for handling and inspecting the skins.
